Kristy Siefkin

Kristy has been honing her storytelling skills since she entered and won her first 4-H youth speech competition at age 8. Fast-forward through 13 years of national speech and debate tournaments, and speaking to audiences of hundreds at conferences, and Kristy landed in front of a camera as a national spokeswoman for the American Kennel Club (AKC). There, she shared her expertise on everything canine with media outlets like KTLA, KTVU and WRAL. She even helped Mario Lopez select the right breed for his family on an episode of Extra!.

Kristy's passion for speaking and teaching has only ever been matched by her passion for man's best friend and for serving the community. She has raised guide dog puppies for the blind, trained wilderness search and rescue dogs, competed in local and national dog shows including the Westminster Kennel Club, qualified dogs for animal therapy work, and recently volunteered her writing and on-camera skills for an animal rescue PSA. Kristy was fortunate enough to combine her love of animals and communications while working at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. There, she managed an international Speakers Bureau Program, training thousands of speakers in both live and online settings. She also produced her first educational video series with a San Francisco bay area production house, attracting new volunteers, donors and clients to the Guide Dogs family.

A Buck Scholar, Kristy attended Duke University for her BA in Psychology, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude in 2004. She returned to the classroom in 2009 to pursue her Masters in Multimedia Communications at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. While learning how to produce, shoot and edit video, build websites, and execute social media campaigns, she was hired by KRON 4 news as a one-man-band video journalist, weather anchor, and fill-in traffic reporter. Soon after, CBS 5 (KPIX) hired Kristy as a weather anchor and reporter. During her time in San Francisco, Kristy reported on a wide variety of stories that gained national attention, from the Giants World Series Victory Parade, to the end of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," to the tear gassings and strikes that became synonymous with the "Occupy Oakland" movement. Kristy's favorite assignments, however, took her to Bryant Park and Lincoln Center in New York, where she reported on Mercedez-Benz Fashion week. Kristy is still trying to replicate some of those runway looks on her little Pfaff sewing machine at home.

When the studio lights and mic are off, Kristy loves to take road trips, often with her spitfire Pomeranian, "Gunner". She's looking forward to soaking up all the great culture, food, and shopping the Valley has to offer, and of course, soaking up a little sun.
