Cargo capsule en route to space station from Virginia

WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. (FOX 13) - A Cygnus cargo capsule blasted off for the International Space Station on Wednesday from NASA's Mid-Atlantic launch facility in Virginia.

The uncrewed spacecraft is loaded with 7,600 pounds of research, crew supplies and hardware for what will be Northrop Grumman's 11th commercial resupply flight. This capsule, dubbed the SS Roger Chaffee after the astronaut who died in the Apollo 1 fire, will arrive at the space station on Friday.

The Antares rocket lifted off from Wallops Island on time at 4:46 p.m.

NASA's other commercial cargo partner, SpaceX, will be sending a Dragon cargo capsule to the station from Florida next week.
