A man in Canada offered up a free trip to someone who shared the same name as his ex.
Jordan Axani found what he was looking for!
Axani just returned home from the trip of a lifetime with a stranger who he now calls a friend.
He offered the ticket to anyone with same last name as his ex-girlfriend on a trip around the world. He didn't have romantic plans, strictly platonic.
Axani finally chose Elizabeth Quinn Gallagher, who goes by her middle name.
They visited New York, Europe, Thailand and Hong Kong.
Hundreds of people reached out to him; some even said they'd change their name to go on the trip!
Axani finally chose this specific Gallagher because she is a natural social philanthropist and was all about paying it forward. He says she seemed like the person who would do the most good with the ticket.
As you can imagine, going on a trip around the world with a complete stranger was a little difficult.
"Of course it was awkward at times, we were still figuring out each other while we were in the spotlight, so it amplifies everything a little bit, but about a week in we figured it all out, and we ended up developing a really cool brother-sister dynamic and it was fantastic," said Axani.
He's using this experience to help others with A Ticket Forward.
The charity raises money to send victims of abuse, cancer and warfare on a trip of a lifetime. He hopes to help them heal through travel.
"This story, at the end of the day, is about taking lemons and turning it into lemonade. The glorious part for Quinn and I, we had the chance to live this trip. Now we want to help others with that same gift of travel and being able to see the world, so that's why A Ticket Forward is so near and dear to our hearts. Resonating on global level, that's really the future," said Axani.
