Storms trigger mudslide closing US 89A

PAGE, Ariz. -The Arizona Department of Transportation reports it has closed US 89A north of the Grand Canyon due to a mud slide.  Heavy rain on Sunday triggered a mud slide that included boulders blocking the road.

The closure starts five miles west of Marble Canyon and ends at Jacob Lake.  There is no estimate for when the road will re-open.

ADOT crews from Page, Macedonia and Gray Mountain are working to reopen the highway.
