PHOENIX - Phoenix Police are investigating a shooting that led four officers to get sickened from an unknown chemical.
Officers responded to the shooting after reports a man in his 20's was shot near Camelback and 75th Avenue on Friday evening. When officers entered a home in response to the shooting, they began to feel sick from chemicals inside, and started to have difficulty breathing.
Eight of the officers had to be decontaminated at the scene. Four of them were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. All of the officers are expected to be okay.
The shooting victim was discovered at a nearby hospital. The 24-year-old man was shot in the torso, and is listed in critical condition.
At least five homes had to be evacuated because of the hazardous materials inside the home. Officers hope to have everyone back in their homes later on Saturday.
