Man survives after he's hit by light rail train

Tempe Police say a man was hit by the light rail train after laying down on the tracks.

Tempe Fire crews responded to the area of 1st and Ash at about 1am after reports the light rail train had hit a man who was laying on the tracks. The 29-year-old man was dragged a short distance until the train came to a stop while he was still underneath. The man was rushed to Scottsdale Osborn hospital, but apparently will survive with only minor injuries.

Police say it appears that alcohol was a factor in the pedestrian's behavior.
