Protest & counter-protest held at Phoenix mosque on Saturday

- Protesters and counter-protesters assembled outside a Phoenix mosque near I-17 and Northern on Saturday morning.

As many as 100 people held a protest outside the mosque, while at least 50 counter-protesters stood in support of members of the mosque.  It was the same place that received national attention over the summer when protesters asked people to draw pictures of the prophet Muhammad for a contest.  Images of Muhammad are considered offensive in Islam.

A group of neo-Nazis decided to join the anti-Muslim protesters, but were told to leave by organizers.

One person was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Demonstrations began at 9am and wrapped up just before Noon.  It was one of several protests organized in different cities across the U.S. this weekend.
