Mother of 4 shot and killed in Glendale; police search for person of interest

A deadly shooting claimed the life of a mother of four and police are looking for her boyfriend, who is being called a person of interest in the case.

Police say just after 9:30 p.m. officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of 54th Avenue and Ocotillo Road on Monday.

They found Elena Gonzalez, 32, with gunshot wounds in one of the homes in the neighborhood.

She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives are investigating the crime and say they are looking for Gonzalez's boyfriend, 34-year-old Max Quijada.

According to Gonzalez's sister, the victim was dating Quijada for the past seven months, but there were issues with the relationship.  Gonzalez's last post on Facebook stated she was staying at a domestic violence shelter.

Quijada is described as 6 feet tall, 210 pounds with dark brown hair. He may be driving a newer model Dodge Charger with Arizona license plate BJL7714.

Anyone with information is asked to call Glendale Police at 623-930-3173 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
