HOUSTON (KRIV)-- A FedEx man is accused of taking two French Bulldogs from the front yard of a home. Thankfully, the pups have been reunited with their owners. Was the FedEx driver busted or just trying to help? One family thinks "busted."
It started when Armando and Erica Correa noticed their French bulldog puppies were missing. Armando looked to the neighbors, and then realized all he needed to do was check his home's surveillance video.
A male FedEx worker on a route noticed two French Bulldogs, Sheila and Bruno, in the front yard of the Correa's East Houston home. In the surveillance video, the man can be seen putting Sheila in the truck, right before grabbing Bruno and placing him in the vehicle as well. Soon after, Sheila jumped out and headed towards the front the door, with the FedEx driver following behind. Without knocking to check and see if anyone was home, he picked up Sheila, took her to his truck, and drove off.
The bulldog puppies, valued at $2500 apiece, disappeared Wednesday evening. The driver claimed that he was only trying to help the dogs. But the owners, who were home at the time of the alleged theft, disagree.
According to Erica Correa, when she asked for her beloved pets to be returned to their family, the driver said they escaped and he didn't have them anymore.
Someone reportedly found the dogs wandering around and took them to a vet to see if they had microchips in them. Thankfully, the dogs did, and the Correa's were told where they could pick up their dogs.
There are currently two investigations under way including an internal FedEx probe, and one criminal by the Harris County Sheriff's office. FedEx released a statement saying they take this case seriously and they are cooperating with investigators.
