Junior High students compete in "Future Cities" competition

Junior high students from across Arizona are competing to design "future cities" in a state competition. Each team, which has three students, designs an entire city using "Sim City." But for the competition, they're only asked to build a section of the city.

Each group will then present why their city is the best to a panel of judges.

"We really wanted to bring in a hands on competition where if people really got to understand what engineers do or could do as a result of study in science, math and engineering," said Vi Brown, Future Cities Media Coordinator.

The winning students get an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC to compete in the National Future Cities competition.
