Barrow Neurological Institute doctors to aid Super Bowl athletes

Two Barrow Neurological Institute doctors are going to the Super Bowl, but they're being put to work!

Dr. Javier Cardenas, Director of the Barrow Concussion and Brain Injury Center, says the NFL selected the institute's doctors to be on the sidelines at the Super Bowl.

Both Cardenas and Barrow neurosurgeon Taro Kaibara will be on hand to evaluate athletes' symptoms and signs of concussion if they are injured.

NFL guidelines require independent medical specialists to be on the sidelines at all games as a precaution.

Barrow's renowned neurological treatment of brain and spinal cord injuries got the NFL's attention and led to their invitation into the NFL's Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant program.
