Scottsdale, Phoenix Fire crews rescue injured mountain biker

Fire rescue crews with the Scottsdale and Phoenix Fire Departments teamed up to rescue a mountain bike rider Saturday morning.

The rider was out on Brown's Ranch trailhead when he crashed his bike. Around 11:00 a.m., the rider called for help after he started experiencing some rib pain, according to Adam Hoster with the Scottsdale Fire Department.

Phoenix Fire Department's technical rescue team was called in to assist Scottsdale Fire Crews.

The rider was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, Hoster said.

Hoster would like to remind the community of a few hiking tips.

He says always hike with a buddy, begin hydrating the day before a hike, bring a charged cell phone and plenty of water, wear sensible shoes, along with a hat and sunscreen, and tell a friend where you're going and when you plan to return.
