Thousands of people are arriving in Phoenix for the big game Sunday, but this is definitely not one of the better days to be traveling to Phoenix. The airport is experiencing major delays and more than a dozen flight cancellations.
Before fans can enjoy the big game, it's all about the waiting game at the airport.
"We've been here probably for about three hours waiting, not much fun waiting in the airport," said Gary.
Marty Allen is rooting for the Seahawks and has tickets to Super Bowl 49, but instead of kicking off pre-game festivities he's at the airport waiting for his sister. "She is still waiting at the terminal at Seattle; she will be about 10 hours late."
FOX 10 asked one traveler what the journey to Phoenix was like. "It was a bit chaotic, we got to the airport, ended up getting an hour delay, and after getting to the gate we got a delay and then another delay," said Christian Rios.
According to FlightAware.com's misery map, Sky Harbor's combined delays and cancellations make it among the worst airports to be traveling to.
And while fans don't see eye to eye on much these days, both groups can commiserate over the travel pains.
"Misery loves company," said Kwong Nuey.
Travelers FOX 10 talked to experience 3,5, and some cases 10-hour delays.
For travelers leaving on Monday, Phoenix Sky Harbor officials recommend that you leave your hotel at least five hours in advance and get to your gate at least one hour before departure.
