Sierra Linda High School lockdown lifted after reports of gunfire

Sierra Linda High School near 67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road was placed on lockdown Monday morning after reports of gunfire off-campus.

According to the Superintendent's office, a student was never involved in the shooting.

"MCSO responded to a shots fired call near the border with Phoenix. People were seen running in the area and students were seen running into the school," stated Sgt. Vince Lewis of the Phoenix Police Department.

Lewis added that the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution while the campus and surrounding area were searched.

No suspects were located and no injuries were reported. Once the search was completed, the lockdown was released.
