Charity fun run raises money for kids on Super Bowl Sunday

The fog may have been terrible for drivers, but it created great running conditions for the "Super Bowl Shuffle 5K!"

The charity fun run/walk event was created by organizers of "The Night Run," which has been a valley tradition for 30 years.

After the race there was a football themed tailgate party and a fitness "End Zone" expo. Super Bowl Productions was also raising money for an organization founded by NFL alumni over 20 years ago.

"Future for Kids is based upon athletics, academics and ethics," says Tricia Schafer, Co-chair for Super Bowl Shuffle 5K. "They have [a] very strong mentoring program in Tempe, which made this a great partner for this race."

The first-year event was quite a success. Nearly $4,000 was raised for "Future for Kids!"
