6.9 earthquake rattles Japan

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.9 MW earthquake has struck off the northern coast of Japan.

The quake happened around 4:06 p.m. Arizona time Monday.

The exact location of the quake is estimated around 137 miles east of Miyako, Japan. 

At this time the USGS has not issued any tsunami warnings for the quake.
