In less than a week, the Department of Homeland Security will run out of money. That is unless Congress can come to an agreement on a new spending bill.
The stalemate in the capitol is a result of President Obama's executive action on immigration. A number of republicans want a bill that defunds the president's immigration plan.
Democrats argue the president acted within his authority and are pushing for a so-called "clean" bill. But with little time left on the clock, some suggest the two sides should stop pointing fingers and come to an agreement.
"I am willing and ready to pass a DHS funding bill," said Sen. Lindsey Graham. "The worst possible outcome for this nation is to defund the Department of Homeland Security"
The current DHS budget ends February 27th. After that, some 30,000 agency jobs will be furloughed, including 80 percent of FEMA workers.
