MCSO makes arrest after 17-yr-old girl is killed Fri night

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says an arrest has made Saturday after a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed near 67th Avenue and Broadway Road on Friday night.

The teen, who has been identified as Niani Rayshawn Allen, was in a vehicle with a group of people when someone in another car fired shots at the car.  According to police, the victim's friends drove her to a Walmart store near 75th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road for help.

On Saturday, MCSO deputies arrested 18-year-old Jason Lindsey and booked him at the 4th Avenue jail on charges of first-degree murder.  An MCSO spokesperson says they believe Lindsey fired the shot that killed the teenager.

When the friends drove the 17-year-old to a Walmart store for help, the case became complicated.  There were some people that called the police saying there was a shooting inside the Walmart and some confusion when the girl was brought there for help.  The victim never entered the store.

People inside the Walmart were saying customers were fleeing through the back of the store.

When Phoenix police arrived at the scene, they gave the victim CPR and according to the Phoenix Fire Department, she was transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital in extremely critical condition, and later died at the hospital.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating the initial scene where the girl was shot and killed earlier in the night.  On Saturday, MCSO deputies announced the arrest of Lindsey in this deadly shooting.
