Massage Envy worker accused of assault; arrested 9 months after the alleged crime

A massage therapist accused of sexually assaulting a client nearly a year ago was arrested Wednesday after DNA linked him to the alleged crime.

Police say Gabriel Lopez, 38, was an employee at Massage Envy near Kyrene and Elliot Road in June, 2014.

According to officials, the victim said during a visit, Lopez inappropriately touched her during a massage.

Afterwards, she went to the police and took a forensic exam.  The results eventually linked Lopez to the case.

Massage Envy has confirmed Lopez is no longer employed by them.

Lopez was booked into jail on one count of sexual abuse.

Statement from Massage Envy:
