Man arrested in Phoenix sexual assault cases

A man is in jail after Phoenix Police say sexually assaulted three women in the past three weeks.

Police arrested 29-year-old Raymond Quintin Contreras after three women accused him of committing the attacks.

They say the first attack happened in late February near 28th and Glendale Avenues. A woman was walking when a man put his arm around her and sexually assaulted her. Police detained Contreras, who said he had mistaken the woman for someone else. 

A second attack happened Sunday when a woman jogging was thrown to the ground. The suspect reportedly dragged her to a wall and pulled down her pants. A passer-by saw what was going on and when the suspect saw him he took off.

The most recent attack happened early Monday morning a woman who was jogging was attacked in the same area.

According to police Contreras, is homeless and had moved out of his grandmother's house near 29th Ave and Glendale in February.

Contreras was arrested wearing clothes that matched the recent attacks. He is being charged by police with sexual assault, kidnapping, and sexual abuse.

A judge ordered that he be held on a $25,000 bond, if he posts the bond he will be required to have an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet.
