Maricopa has a town landmark: "Walmart Golden Van"

Every city has a landmark or a monument. Paris has the Eifel Tower, New York City has the Empire State Building, and the Town of Maricopa now has one; a badly parked abandoned golden minivan.

It is bizarre, but someone left this van parked across two spots at the WalMart parking lot.

It's been there for weeks, no one knows who it belongs to, who left it there, why they left it there, and it hasn't been towed. Residents of Maricopa have adopted the van as their own, and now it has gone viral on social media.

The Golden Van has it's own Facebook page with more than a thousand likes, and the thing to do is to take a selfie next to the van and post it to social media.

Maricopa Police say they have tracked down the van's owner to Phoenix, but it is unclear if they've actually made contact with the owner.
