Nascar Sprint Cup Series: campers move in

It was a beautiful morning and an especially great one for race fans wanting to setup camp at Phoenix International Raceway.

The Sprint Cup series is this week at the race track, and FOX 10 was there as the gates opened.

One by one the lot filled up, it's for campers who reserved their spot. Gates opened at 8 a.m. Monday morning and the excitement for the Nascar Sprint Cup Series grows.

"Everybody is here, we see the same people every year, and we love the fact that everything is all in one place," said a fan.

"We set up a fire every night, this thing once it gets going people just come along, get a shot of tequila, and then keep on going," said John ODell.

John brought plenty of supplies for this week including soda, liquor, and plenty of water.

"The camping experience is great, they have showers, a grocery store fully stocked, all the kids play in the dirt and the mud," he said.

John's family will join him soon, and so will thousands of others. The races start on Friday.

"We have three great days of racing action starting with the Toyota 120, and the Nascar Mexico series race, that's the only race they run north of the border, so it's a special event for them and for us, and then going on through Sunday the CampingWorld.com Sprint Cup Series Race, and it's going to be a packed grandstand. A great weekend of racing," said Zac Emmons with PIR.

PIR is geared up for the Sprint Cup Race in Avondale.

The race is this coming Sunday, other races start Friday, tickets are still available online.
