6 tons of marijuana worth $6.2M seized at Arizona-Mexico border

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has announced a major drug bust at the Arizona-Mexico border.

Agents seized six tons of marijuana hidden in a truck where the driver was attempting to cross from Mexico into Nogales.

The marijuana's street value is estimated to be $6.2 million.

DHS believes this is the third largest seizure of any illegal controlled substance in Arizona history.

Statement from Secretary Jeh C. Johnson:
"I congratulate U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the seizure on March 11 of over six tons of marijuana, worth an estimated $6.2 million, hidden in a truck attempting to cross from Mexico into the United States at the Nogales, Ariz. port of entry. We believe this is the third largest seizure of any illegal controlled substance in history at any Arizona point of entry. This highlights the good work our men and women do every day to secure our borders."
