Police: Suspect spray-paints face to avoid identification

MADERA, Calif. (AP) - A man suspected of stealing a car spray-painted his face black in an attempt to evade police in Central California.

The Fresno Bee reports 23-year-old Jose Espinoza ran from police after being caught with a stolen car.

Officers caught up to Espinoza and arrested him Saturday night with his face painted black.

Police booked Espinoza into the Madera County Department of Corrections, where he remained Monday morning. It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.
