FOX 10 has learned more about the homeowner facing charges, and the condition of more than 20 animals seized from her property.
67-year-old Lucille Willis is accused of hoarding animals in her Cave Creek home. Deputies say they rescued 20 cats and three dogs from unsafe living conditions.
Video taken by MCSO showed the floor of the home covered in feces.
Now, most of the cats and dogs are recovering at MCSO's Mash Unit. One of the animals is so critical it is still at the vet being treated.
Deputies say they found one dog sitting in a pile of junk, covered in feces, it could barely move and was taken to a vet.
MCSO deputies say they found out about the home by a tip they got Wednesday. They obtained a search warrant and entered Thursday afternoon where they rescued the animals and will nurse them back to health.
Once the animals are healthy again, they will be put up for adoption.
Detectives brought Willis in for questioning; she was held on 23 misdemeanor counts of failing to provide adequate shelter, and 23 counts of failing to provide necessary medical care.
