Incredible rescue caught on video: Deputies pull woman from burning home

A Pasco County Sheriff's deputy's heroic actions were caught on video as he pulled a woman from a burning home.

When deputies arrived at the scene after receiving a call about a fire, a woman told them her mother was still inside the house.

Take a look at the video from Deputy James Collins' body camera.

The rescuers say heavy smoke was seen emanating from the home and one deputy got on his hands and knees in an attempt to gain entry, but the smoke was too thick.

Moments later, deputies shattered a window to get to the trapped woman and were able to pull her out and away from the home.

"Once we saw someone was trapped that was our only forethought.. to get there as quickly as we could. Obviously we were trying to do it as safely as we could by stopping at red lights and everything else, but try to get there as quickly as we could. I could see there was thick smoke. I got down low so I could see if I could see anything. Once I got inside she couldn't tell us which direction to go and then I just couldn't breathe anymore and I had to back out," said Collins.

Fortunately, no one had to be taken to a hospital and no one else was inside the home at the time of the fire.
