2 airlines move terminals at Sky Harbor as part of renovation project

Two airlines are moving terminals at Sky Harbor in April.

Sun Country and Spirit Airlines are relocating from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 as part of the Terminal Modernization Program.

Sun Country flights began operating out of Terminal 2 on April 8.

Spirit Airlines will operate out of Terminal 2 starting on April 16 at 6 p.m.

If you're flying on or around these dates, be aware that you may depart from one terminal, but return at another terminal.

By summer of 2016, travelers will have a larger consolidated security checkpoint to get to gates faster. Modernized ticket counters will make the check-in process more convenient.

The renovations are the first of three phases in the $590 million redevelopment of Terminal 3.

The Phoenix Aviation Department expects the first phase to be finished by summer 2016 and the entire project to be completed in 2020.
