Valley family looking for answers in deadly hit and run accident

A west valley family is pleading for help after their father was found dead on a road near Luke Air Force Base.

36-year-old Anthony Vargas was found dead late Sunday night.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officials say he died in an apparent hit and run accident.

Now investigators, and family members are asking for the public's help in finding the driver who killed Vargas.

Vargas left behind a wife, 5 children, 3 grandchildren, and several other family members.

They say Vargas had taken a cab late Sunday night, and for some reason the driver left him near Luke Air Force Base.

Vargas' body was found in the southbound lanes of Sarival Avenue, between Northern Parkway and Olive Avenue on Sunday night.

Investigators say the evidence at the scene, and Vargas' injuries are consistent with a hit and run crash.

Nearly one week after his death, Vargas' family is reaching out and is desperately answers. His wife, children, and even son's football team are hoping someone may have information that could help the family heal.

"If you're watching, and it was an accident, just tell us, don't run and keep it hard from us," said Karen Vargas.

"I just want to know what happened, I'm not looking for anything other than just to know," said Andrew Bohannon.

MCSO investigators have very little to go on. They don't know the type of vehicle that hit and killed Vargas.

And they say the dynamics of the crash would've left little to no damage to the car.

Again, the accident happened late Sunday night between 11pm and midnight on Sarival Road near Northern Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
