Critics call it a dangerous and disturbing trend that went viral over the weekend on social media: The #KylieJennerChallenge.
Many young people are apparently trying to look like model and reality TV star Kylie Jenner, by attempting to plump-up their lips like hers.
A number of people have been posting photos and videos of themselves using bottles, cups, jars and other things to suction their lips to temporarily make them bigger.
But many have had devastating results.
Scottsdale plastic surgeon Dr. Daniel Shapiro, MD says there's a device that can be purchased to plump-up lips, but he doesn't recommend it.
"It's not without possible complications and you could get some broken capillaries, broken blood vessels in the lips, if you will," he said."
"You can get the same kind of thing with the capillaries and blood vessels around the mouth and that's problematic, because it could be a long-lasting staining, if you will, and some pigmentation problems around the mouth that may not go away without some assistance."
Doctor Shapiro says you can simply buy lip liner and makeup at the drug store to make your lips fuller.
For a more permanent enhancement, he says there are silicone implants available that come in various sizes.
On Twitter Tuesday, Kylie Jenner posted this message to her fans.
