Neighbor saves sleeping woman from house fire

A woman sleeping home alone was rescued by a neighbor when her manufactured home caught fire Sunday evening.

The home, located near 8th St and Roeser, was fully engulfed within minutes. Fortunately, the neighbor was able to wake her up and get her out of the house safely before firefighters arrived. The Phoenix Fire Department says there were no working smoke alarms in the house.

Capt. Ruben Saavedra says one firefighter was hurt and had to be taken to the hospital with a lower leg injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
