1 extricated after pickup collides with tow truck

One person had to be cut out of a pickup truck after it collided with a tow truck near Grand Avenue and Osborn early Friday morning.

Officials say the tow truck was making a U-turn when a speeding pickup truck crashed into it. The pickup truck ended up wrapped around a pole.

Two men in their 40s in the pickup truck were hurt, one of which had to be extricated. Phoenix Fire Capt. Benjamin Santillan says both men were taken to a hospital in serious condition.

We're told the tow truck driver is okay.

Grand Avenue was closed in both directions for several hours on Friday. The nearby train tracks were shutdown temporarily because of the proximity of the crash.
