Food fight disrupts lunch two times at Higley HS

End of the school year pranks are getting out of hand at Higley High School in Gilbert.

The school has had two food fights in one week. In response, the school has cut the lunch hour in half.

Videos of the end of the year antics are being posted to social media. In a video found on Instagram, a member of the school's security patrol scolded the students after a second food fight in a week at Higley High School.

"Howell, one of our administrators took nachos to the back of the head, and people were starting to throw apples and milk cartons," said Taylor Stephenson.

Students say faculty and staff were hit with food. A letter to parents from the Principal at Higley High said the food fight caused unsafe conditions.

"He was just frustrated that people would disrespect their school that way, he like lost it," said student Sierra Wagner.

The first food fight happened on Thursday, and the students did it again on Friday. This time the students cut the wires on a school surveillance camera. Gilbert Police were called in, but no arrests were made.

"The fact that they got away with it, and cutting the wires on the security camera, that's a little far," said student Taylor Stephenson.

"I think it's a waste of food, and I think it's disrespectful to our school and the administrators, but I also think it's kind of ridiculous to not allow us to bring backpacks because it's part of our school supplies," said Wagner.
