Vision the Night: social media app helps connect singles

You've heard of Tinder and Foursquare, and there is a new app that is a hybrid of the two. It lets you see what bars your friends are headed to before you go out, and if you're looking for romance, it lets you tell someone you think they're attractive and then connects you with that person during your night on the town.

When Friday night rolls around and your buddy wants to go to the bar, who else will be there? Will she/he be cute? A new app called "Vision the Night" hopes to tackle both those questions.

"I'd like to call it the ultimate social and dating tool, which gets your friends to go out, and also add a dating dimension to it," said Daniel Mazzon.

Mazzon says his app is all about helping people have fun. You join the app via Facebook, invite friends to connect, and you can see which bars they are headed to. And if you see someone on the app you think is hot, you can let them know and if the feeling is mutual you can see which bar the other is headed to.

"By the time you get to the bar you're already in a somewhat comfortable situation, because you already know who is attracted to you, and you have your friends by your side to back up your confidence," said Mazzon.

The app also lets you show the girl to guy ratio at each bar, so you can skip the ones where the odds of romance aren't in your favor. And though the app just went live in Tempe last week, some are already using it as their virtual wingman.

"The first night we had it, I believe there were 47 mutual attractions at the one location, so you go ahead and put that at 50 bars locally, and the results could be amazing," he said.

This weekend Vision the Night is adding several other bars in Tempe and Scottsdale to it's app. Right now, the app is only available for Apple iOS, but Daniel plans to expand to Android soon.
