March Against Monsanto: Group protests so-called "Dark Act"

People all over the valley are standing up for the right to eat and buy organic food.

A "March Against Monsanto" was held Saturday at the Tempe Farmer's Market near Ash Avenue and University Drive.

The group gathered to protest a federal bill written by Monsanto, which is a global herbicide company.  The bill would ban states from passing GMO labeling laws.

"Basically, they're instilling GMOs... genetically modified organisms... basically, frankenfood, we don't know what it is; how it's going to react to our bodies...," said Jeremy Nolt, a protester.

Congress will hold its first vote on HR 1599 next month.  Critics are calling it the "Dark Act" or "Denying Americans the Right to Know" Act.
