"They skidded right here and stopped here."
That is about the last thing Rick Pomerleau remembers about the brutal attack that left him bruised and bleeding.
"I guess you could say that I felt it wasn't a fair deal/where I had the opportunity to defend myself from being attacked," he said.
Pomerleau says early Sunday, he began receiving Facebook messages from a man who is now married to one of his ex-girlfriends. Pomerleau says he hasn't seen the man or the ex since 1984.
"I thought it was just like bogus, ya know?"
But after darkness fell, Pomerleau says he heard a truck in his driveway and when he went to investigate, he heard a familiar voice: his ex-girlfriend.
Pomerleau says, "And I came out, started walking toward the driveway, I really wasn't sure who it was. She said, what are you doing? Are you looking for a death wish?"
Police say the two men with her attacked Pomerleau, beating him so violently he was in critical care at MGH with broken facial bones and bleeding on the brain.
"The detectives are currently investigating, interviewing a number of witnesses, suspects in the incident," said Salem Police Department Lt. Michael Kelly.
As he fights to recover, Pomerleau says he just wants justice for what he calls a senseless attack.
"Whatever wrong that was done, I want police to take care of it."
