2 suspects in custody, 1 on loose after armed robbery attempt

Police say a suspect shot himself after he and two others attempted to commit an armed robbery near 24th Street and McDowell.

Three armed suspects allegedly tried to rob a neighborhood market in area, but when they tried to get away, police quickly caught up with them.
Officers say they spotted the suspects driving a stolen car; they followed them into a neighborhood near 27th Street and Osborn.

At that point, they say the suspects ended up at a dead end, hit a big boulder and crashed the car.

During the crash, police say one of them shot himself in the leg.

Phoenix Police Lt. Aimee Smith says the second suspect was apprehended by one of the police dogs.

Both suspects were taken to a hospital. After treatment, they'll be booked into jail.

The third suspect is still on the loose.

Anyone with information about the third suspect is asked to contact Phoenix police.
