One local store owner decided to stop selling the controversial flag.
And another is hoping to make money online from all the controversy.
eBay, Amazon, and WalMart have banned the flags. Manufacturers are now selling out or deciding to stop producing the flag altogether.
Phoenix flag store, All The Kings Flags is telling customers they are all sold out.
Owner Kerry King says as of Wednesday his store is all sold out, and he won't be restocking his store with the rebel battle flag.
"Most of the feedback I got was they didn't want me to continue it, and I got to think about their reasoning, just how vitriolic it has become," said Kerry King.
King says his customers buy the flag for all sorts of reasons. Some for historical purposes, others for hate.
"The flag is just a piece of cloth; it's the people who fly it who are racists," said King.
One local man is taking advantage of the controversy, selling the $20 flag for $200. The caption reads, "Soon to be impossible to find or buy anywhere."
"This could be a valuable piece of America for someone, so I'm giving lots, and lots of someones the opportunity to buy at the going rate, supply and demand," said Kit McGuire.
