SRP: Power restored after transformer fire caused outage in Tempe

Multiple power outages were reported in Tempe Monday afternoon and the Salt River Project estimated 4,000 customers were affected.

SRP's operations center says the outage was caused by a transformer fire in the area near University and McClintock. The fire is out.

Power was restored to these areas by 1:45 p.m.:
Dobson Rd to Scottsdale Rd and University Dr to McKellips Rd
Price Rd to Scottsdale Rd and Broadway Rd to Loop 202
Dobson Rd to Scottsdale Rd and Broadway Rd to Loop 202
Price Rd to Scottsdale Rd and Southern Ave to Loop 202

Impacted area:
Price Rd to Hayden Rd and Broadway Rd to Loop 202 - restoration estimated by 7:40 p.m.; 9 customers were affected.
Per SRP, "Electrical equipment has failed. SRP crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible."
