Stranger rescues baby from hot car in west Phoenix

A good samaritan came to the rescue of a baby who was trapped in a hot car in Phoenix.

It happened near 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Police say a young mother accidentally locked her keys in the car while her baby was still inside.

Anthony Garcia was working in the area when he noticed people gathering around a car in the parking lot.

He says the mom was panicking and that is when he stepped in.

"I wrapped my shirt around my hand, and I just grabbed a crowbar, and I smacked the window two times and it broke, and I opened the door and got the baby out," said Anthony Garcia.

Garcia says the baby was sweaty and crying, but otherwise okay.

Firefighters arrived moments later.
