3 injured after alleged armed burglary, crash

A burglary suspect and a resident were injured after exchanging gunfire at a home near 21st Avenue and Bethany Home Road early Tuesday morning. Shortly afterward, police say the suspects crashed into another vehicle while trying to get away.

Sgt. Trent Crump says a drug-related armed burglary first occurred in a neighborhood near 21st Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

During the burglary, the resident and a suspect exchanged gunfire, injuring both of them.

The resident was reportedly forced into an SUV with three suspects, but soon afterward, the driver crashed into another vehicle nearby.

Crump says although suspects tried to flee on foot, they were all taken into custody.

During the crash, one woman injured her leg and was transported to a hospital.

Both the resident and the burglary suspect were also taken to a hospital.
