Valley couple turns to the internet for help with broken A/C unit

The triple digit temperatures are brutal, we all know that. Thankfully air conditioning makes it bearable until the air conditioner breaks; then it is panic time.

After the A/C had broken, a Goodyear couple turned to the internet to help rescue them from what could be a very long, hot, and expensive summer.

Your home is supposed to be a welcoming escape from the heat, but not when the temperature inside was approaching 90 degrees.

"I am sweating, you're sweating, we're all sweating," said Chris Ferrara.

The air conditioner at Bunny and Christopher Ferrara's Goodyear home went out last night; now they're running fans to try and stay cool.

"it was hot when it went out, my wife actually was walking through the house and she smelled something burning," said Chris.

A repair man checked their 13-year-old system and delivered some bad news.

"Basically he said we need to have the system replaced," said Bunny Ferrara.

The cost, as much as $10,000, way out of reach for the US Air Force Veteran and his wife. Chris also battled leukemia, which severely weakened his immune system, so leaving the house and being around others isn't always a good idea.

"It is not like there are other options at this point," said Chris.

At the urging of a friend, the couple set up a GoFundMe.com page, with the goal of raising enough money to help pay for a new A/C unit.

"We're doing everything we can just to keep our heads above water, so we may just have to stick it out without air conditioning this summer, and I don't know how that is going to work for us," said Bunny.
