2nd Georgia Man Killed in Afghanistan Suicide Bombing

Heart breaking news for a Peachtree City family--a second Georgia man has been identified as the victim in an August 22 suicide car bomb attack in Afghanistan.

The blast is believed to be the worst loss of American life this year in that country.

Richard McEvoy is being remembered as a good leader and a good father.

The retired army colonel lived in Peachtree City, but was working as a private military contactor for DynCorp International when he was killed. Authorities say he was training Afghan soldiers and police officers--traveling in a NATO convoy when he was killed.

McEvoy, 57, was an active member of Peachtree City Christian Church before he joined DynCorp. His pastor and friend Dr. George Dillard says McEvoy lived an exemplary life from which many people could learn a valuable lesson.

He loved God, his family, his church and his country and everything else just kind of fell into place after that. His attitude was, "If not me, than who?' Rev. Dillard told Fox 5's Portia Bruner.

The Massachusetts native leaves behind his wife Kathleen, his 32 year old daughter Michelle and his 25 year old son Patrick. They were too emotional to comment on camera, but did share a photo from their last family vacation in Ireland--taken earlier this year.

At least ten people were killed, including Barry Sutton of Rome . Sutton was a retired marine and once worked for the Floyd County Sheriff's Office. Friends said the 46-year-old was serving his fourth tour as a contractor in Afghanistan.

Sutton had talked about the risks, but decided to go back one last time to wrap up some financial obligations. Colleagues remember the father as a man who was dedicated to his country and to his family.

The McEvoy family will travel to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to be there when his body returns home on Wednesday. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
