Abandoned dog finds forever home

UPDATE: Late Tuesday afternoon Aaron called FOX 10 and told us that Tigg has found a new forever home with a family.

A Goodyear man discovered something his neighbors left behind when they moved out of their home last week, the family pet.

A pit bull was abandoned without any food in the excessive heat.

The dog has a name and has been both crate-trained and frisbee trained.

His owner abandoned him in the sweltering heat and didn't look back.

A neighbor heard the dog whimpering Monday morning, and is trying to find the dog a new family.

For four days, the 14-month-old pit bull named Tigg toughed it out in excessive heat all by himself.

The family who lived in the home moved out of state.

"I knew they left Thursday night, I saw the moving truck was gone the following day... they basically abandoned everything there's furniture, but it's pretty much garbage that is left," said Aaron.

Tigg was left behind with the trash. Aaron lives across the street, and he heard Tigg barking and whimpering.

"He may have just laid back there and died," said Aaron.

The man who was renting the house on the phone admitted to FOX 10 that he has no intention of coming back to get Tigg; he's hoping someone will take him in.

"I feel like if I turn him into a shelter they won't give him a chance. They're gonna see a big head, big feet, pit bull," he said.

Aaron said he's contacted a few no-kill shelters, but so far he says none have room for Tigg.

So he's taking it upon himself to see that Tigg finds a new forever family.

"It's sad, he's such a good dog," said Aaron.

Aaron said he's found Tigg a foster home, but he is still searching for someone who can take the dog in permanently. At least Tigg doesn't have to stay at an abandoned home in the heat all by himself anymore.
