The Maltese-mix has a huge infected wound on her stomach; it's not known if she was intentionally cut by somebody or if it was from a previous medical issue.
On Tuesday with the help of the Arizona Small Dog Rescue and the Bethany Animal Home Hospital the dog is getting the help she needs.
"She was brought into the country by a gentleman who found her in a park," said Sherry Petta.
Nobody knows where this little dog came from or what exactly happened to her, but what was known to the people at the Arizona Small Dog Rescue is that she needed help, and needed help fast.
"As soon as she saw her she said I'm taking her to the vet right now," said Petta.
The dog was in bad shape, and the pictures before her treatment are too graphic to show.
"It looked like a big, pink, swollen, infected valley down her abdomen," she said.
Now the doctors at the Bethany Home Animal Hospital are still trying to figure out what happened to the dog. It's possible she was intentionally cut or had a tumor on her stomach that burst.
"There's no reason a dog should ever be in this condition... I don't know who did it, or why, but at least she's going to get care at this point," said Petta.
She is about to undergo what may be one of many surgeries before she is well again.
"It's so sad, the constant struggle we see with so many dogs, and we just wish people would take better care of their dogs and love them, they're just sweet little beings who give nothing but goodness," she said.
The hope is once the dog is healed she will be adopted out through the Arizona Small Dogs Rescue group. Obviously it's going to be a long road to recovery. If you'd like to help with the medical costs for the dog you can donate here: http://azsmalldog.org/
