WIKIEUP, Ariz. (AP) - An auto accident in northwestern Arizona has killed two people and partially closed the main highway between Phoenix and Las Vegas.
The Thursday morning accident closed northbound U.S. 93 about seven miles south of Wikieup, and a Department of Public Safety spokesman says two people were killed.
No further details were immediately available regarding the accident, but it occurred in or near an area where state Department of Transportation earlier Thursday had said the highway was slick and icy due to a winter storm.
ADOT says alternate routes for northbound traffic from the Phoenix area include State Route 89 through Prescott and Interstate 17 through Flagstaff.
