TSA: Super Bowl programs should go in carry-on bags

PHOENIX (AP) - The Transportation Security Administration says air travelers with official programs from the Super Bowl should put them in their carry-on bags, not checked luggage.

TSA spokeswoman Lori Dankers says the programs could be flagged by the agency's automatic screening technology if they're in checked bags. She says that would require that a checked bag be opened and checked manually. And she says that would delay the bag itself and cause a backup.

Dankers declined for security reasons to explain what it is about the programs that would cause checked bags to be flagged.

But she said it's something has come up before after previous Super Bowls and that the agency asks airlines to have their ticket counter personnel advise travelers to remove programs from their checked bags.
