FBI helps investigate hoax threats made to Flagstaff schools

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - The FBI is joining Flagstaff Police in the investigation of at least five prank phone calls that put several northern Arizona schools on lockdown in recent weeks.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports officers told a crowd of 600 community members at public forum Tuesday night that the FBI had been responding to each call and has organized a nationwide task force to investigate these and similar threats being made in other states.

Police have no suspects, and can't tell where the calls were made from.

Committing a hoax is a Class 4 felony and could mean up to three years and nine months in jail. If a suspect is arrested, a domestic terrorism charge is also possible.
