2 killed in helicopter crash in southern Arizona

BENSON, Ariz. (AP) - Two people have died in a helicopter crash in southern Arizona.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office says the helicopter was returning from Phoenix on Wednesday evening after routine maintenance.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas says contact with the helicopter was lost around 7 p.m., and the Sheriff's Office sent a team to find the aircraft.

The Benson Fire Department found the wreckage around 9:20 p.m. outside of Benson. The pilot and a mechanic were found dead.

They have not been identified.
