Autopsy: Driver shot self before fatal crash in Sedona

SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities in the Arizona tourist town of Sedona say an autopsy confirms a man fatally shot himself before his SUV collided with an oncoming car, killing two people in that vehicle.

Sedona police said Tuesday that the Coconino County medical examiner's office determined 48-year-old Ross "Scott" Willoughby, of Cottonwood, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The department also says it received information soon after Sunday's crash that another police agency was trying to locate Willoughby because he was suicidal.

Willoughby's 1996 Jeep Cherokee was westbound on state Route 89A when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car carrying three people.

The driver and a passenger in the car were killed, and a second passenger was critically injured.
