Buckeye police: 2 suspects arrested in man's shooting death

BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Buckeye say two suspects have been arrested in a homicide case.

They say 21-year-old Zackary Howard and 18-year-old Richard Burns have been booked into a Phoenix jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated armed robbery.

It was unclear Friday if either Howard or Burns has an attorney yet. Both of the men live in Buckeye.

Police say a resident taking a walk Wednesday morning discovered the body on the trail behind Inca Elementary School.

Police later identified the victim as 19-year-old Matthew Christensen of Buckeye and say he had multiple gunshots wounds to his body.

They say investigators believe Howard and Burns conspired to rob Christensen at the location his body was found.

During the course of the robbery, police believe the victim was shot multiple times.
